The owners of a suspected puppy mill in Upshur County owe about $9,500 in veterinarian bills, and none of the animals had been taken to the vet in about five months, according to evidence presented during a custody hearing Monday. Byron Hobson and Jeremy Reddin, the owners of the suspected puppy mill, were vying Monday for custody of the 37 dogs seized Oct. 29 by the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. The custody hearing in Pct. 2 Justice of the Peace Lyle Potter’s courtroom recessed late Monday afternoon after three hours of testimony from two witnesses.
